I wrote a “My Why” post in 2023. At the time, I said my reasons for being in real estate were my family and my clients, who often become like family. That was true then, and it’s still true now. But the life I was building when I wrote that post looks very different from the life I’m building today.
Back then, part of my why was creating a career that could help provide for my family if something ever happened to my [ex] husband. I never imagined I would be starting over and that providing for my kids and myself would become my sole responsibility.
Supporting My Kids and Myself
That is my why now. I want to build a career that allows me to support my kids and myself, financially and in all the ways that matter beyond a paycheck. I want us to have stability, and I want to be present for them. I’m also excited about the life Jamie and I are beginning to build together. After everything that’s changed, I’m learning that I can make room for that happiness while still working toward the security and independence I want for myself and my kids.
I’ll be honest: starting over has been hard. Divorce changed the future I thought I was going to have. Even though I was the one who filed, and I know it was the right decision for me, I’ve still grieved that future. Some days I’m confident and excited about what’s ahead. Other days I’m figuring things out as I go. Both can be true.
Why Real Estate Still Matters to Me
Real estate gives me a way to work toward the life I want for my kids and myself while doing something I love. I’ve always cared about helping people. Before I became an agent, I worked with students, and being someone they could count on meant a lot to me. I bring that same heart to my clients today.
My own experiences have also changed the way I understand what a move can mean. Sometimes you’re buying a home because you’ve reached a goal you worked years for. Sometimes you’re selling because life took a turn you didn’t choose. I know there can be a lot more behind that decision than what anyone sees on paper.
I want my clients to feel comfortable telling me what they need, asking questions, and taking the time to make a decision that feels right for them. I’ll give them honest information, explain their options, and be there through the process. Because when you’re making a big change, having someone in your corner matters.
The Future I’m Building
My kids and I are my biggest why. Every long day, every appointment, every offer I write and every person I help is part of building a life where we can feel secure and look forward to what’s next. I’m proud that my kids get to see me doing that, even while I’m still figuring some of it out.
My why in 2023 was real. This is my why today: to support my kids and myself, to build a future we can count on, and to help other people through some of the biggest changes in their lives. I’m grateful that the future I’m building also includes Jamie and the life we’re beginning together.
If you’re getting ready for a new chapter, whether you’re excited about it or still coming to terms with it, I’d be honored to help you make your next move Krystle clear.
